The phrase covers two different businesses and two different kinds of inquiry. Skilled home health is ordered by a physician and delivered by nurses and therapists, often paid through Medicare or another insurer. Non-medical home care, sometimes called private duty, supports bathing, meals, mobility and companionship and is usually paid privately or through long-term care coverage. Many agencies run both, and the marketing must keep them apart or callers end up confused and staff end up screening the wrong calls.
Inquiries also arrive from two directions. Families, often an adult child searching late in the evening after a hospital stay or a fall, find agencies through map results, search and increasingly AI assistants. Professionals, such as discharge planners, physicians, case managers and rehabilitation staff, pass along names they already trust. Search marketing mostly reaches the first group. The second depends on relationships and a clear, current description of what you accept.

Tracking setup
Inquiry stage
One tracking number for the listing, one for the website and one for each ad source. Calls should forward to the same intake line so staff see no difference. Confirm recording notices comply with your state rules before recording anything.
Intake stage
A short fixed list such as assessment booked, not a fit, wrong service, no payer match, call back later. Without it a monthly review can only say the phone rang.
Inquiry stage
A website form should ask for a name, a phone number, the town and the type of help, not diagnoses or medications. Keep health details out of forms, ad platforms and analytics tags.
Start of care
Whoever opens the record writes where the family first came from, using the same labels as the tracking numbers. This is the link that connects marketing to admissions.
Visibility stage
Free data on which searches reach you and what people do on the listing: calls, direction requests, website visits. It shows trends the phone log cannot.
Inquiry stage
A message to the intake coordinator or manager when a call goes unanswered, so a family looking for help for a parent is not waiting until morning.
Retention stage
Families can be asked for a review after care is underway, in line with Google policy. Offering anything in exchange for a review is not allowed, and clients should never feel pressure about their care.
The monthly routine
Gather inquiries, intake outcomes, assessments and admissions for the listing, website, paid ads and referral sources, using the same date range for each.
Review a handful of recorded or logged calls, where lawful and disclosed, to hear whether callers get a warm, informed answer and whether staff ask the right screening questions.
List every call that went unanswered and what happened next. This step often finds the cheapest improvement in the whole program.
For each source, how many inquiries became assessments and how many became care? A source with fewer calls and more admissions deserves more attention than one with a loud phone.
Note which discharge planners, physicians and community partners are sending families, and whether they received an update. Do this without offering anything of value in exchange for referrals, and ask counsel about any gray area.
Choose two or three changes for the coming month, record them, and compare against them next time so the review builds on itself.
Agency questions
