Get results in days, not monthsResults in days, not monthsWhat you are buying
A moving company sells two things that a marketing agency can only influence from the outside: a truck and crew on a particular date, and a price that holds up when the crew arrives. Leads are the raw material, but the business is made of booked moves. Any partner you hire should talk about the whole path: someone searches for local movers or long distance movers, picks up the phone or fills in a request for an estimate, a coordinator offers an in-home or video survey, an estimate is sent, a deposit secures the date and the job is completed and reviewed.
Think about how a household actually chooses. Most people planning a move ask several companies for estimates, compare the offers, read the reviews and check that the company is real, and they do it while juggling a closing date or a lease ending. Availability on their date is often the deciding factor. That is why moving company lead generation has to cover the whole decision window: appearing when the search happens, answering when the call comes, and giving a clear next step such as a survey time.
The work behind this has several layers. There is visibility on the map and in search results for the move types you actually want. There are landing pages for each service and each city you cover. There are ads for the times of year when capacity allows, such as the summer rush and the crowded end and start of each month. And there is a tracking system that ties each call to a booked job. A partner that only sells traffic is handing you the first layer and leaving you to guess about the rest.
Many owners have also been offered shared leads, sold to several movers at once, and some of those are useful in a pinch. They are a supplement, not a foundation. Whatever you buy, judge it by the cost of a booked move, and keep building the listing and pages that bring calls you do not pay for each time.
It also helps to know what the rules expect of you. Written estimates, USDOT registration for interstate household goods moves and state licensing for local moves are your obligations, not a marketer’s. Check the current federal and state requirements that apply to your operation and make sure your marketing partner never makes claims about licenses, insurance or pricing that you cannot back up.
Nine questions to ask
RankGuarantee™ landing pages cost $495 a month, managed ads begin at $895 a month for one platform and Organic Growth SEO, maps and AI search starts at $1,495 a month. You pay ad platforms directly for ad spend. We have no contract and no setup fee.
They should be yours. If an agency owns the accounts, the call-tracking numbers or the website, you may lose your history and your listing when you leave. Ask for admin access to every account and keep the log-ins.
We do not sell, resell or broker leads at all. Shared leads reach several movers at once, so ask any vendor whether an inquiry goes to you alone and judge it by the cost of a booked move rather than by the cost of the lead.
A good answer includes a tracking number per source, a form that records where the person came from, a status field for survey scheduled, estimate sent and booked, and a monthly reconciliation with your dispatcher or coordinator. If the answer ends with clicks, press for more.
The agency does not write your estimates, but anyone doing lead generation for moving companies should understand how they work, because your pages and scripts should set honest expectations about surveys and estimate types. Ask how they handle a caller who wants a firm price over the phone.
A thoughtful partner sizes ads to your crew and truck capacity, pauses what you cannot serve and shifts attention to the weeks that need filling. Ask how often they will review capacity with you and who decides to pause a campaign.
The answer should come from your service mix and territory. Local movers and long distance movers search differently, and so do apartment, senior and office moves. Be wary of a package that is the same for every mover.
No honest agency can. Search results, competition and your own response speed all affect outcomes. We do not promise rankings, volumes or dates, and you should walk away from any partner that does.
You should be able to leave without penalty and keep your accounts, pages, tracking numbers and data. Ours is month to month, and every piece of moving company lead generation we do is built on assets in your name.
How an engagement works
The first conversation should cover your move types, territory, crew capacity, busiest weeks, average job and how coordinators handle a new request today.
You grant access to your profile, website, ad accounts and phone system. The partner reviews listings, pages, tracking and how fast inquiries are answered.
Call tracking, form capture and status fields are installed before any new traffic is bought, so every inquiry can be followed.
Service and city pages, an accurate map listing, review requests and the first ad campaigns are built and approved by you.
Expect a brief weekly note on changes and issues, and a monthly report that covers the numbers below plus decisions for the next month.
Every three months, compare booked moves and revenue per source, discuss capacity and season, and decide whether to expand, hold or stop a channel.
Green and red flags
Ownership
You hold the admin rights to the ad accounts, the map profile, the domain and the tracking numbers from the start.
Reporting
They show booked moves, move types and revenue from your own records, not only impressions and clicks.
Honesty
They explain that rankings, volume and timing are not theirs to promise, and they name the parts you control, such as call answering.
Fit
They want to know how many crews and trucks you have and when you are full before they discuss budgets.
Promises
Nobody controls search results or demand. A pledge of either suggests tactics that may put your listing at risk.
Lead sources
Ask directly where inquiries come from and how many other movers receive the same one.
Reporting
A page full of impressions and visits looks busy, but nothing in it shows whether a crew was dispatched. Ask for booked moves or ask for a different partner.
Terms
If leaving means losing your numbers, your site or your history, the partner is holding you in place with logistics, not results.
Monthly report
| Report section | What it should include | Warning sign |
|---|---|---|
| Calls by source | Answered and missed calls from the profile, website, ads and print, with recordings or notes on a sample | One undifferentiated call total |
| Estimate requests | Forms, chats and texts, with the move type, timing and source | A form count with no detail |
| Surveys and estimates | How many surveys were scheduled and completed and how many written estimates were sent | Missing from the report entirely |
| Speed to answer | Time from request to first reply, missed calls by hour and how many callers left a message | Response is treated as someone else’s problem |
| Booked moves | Moves with a deposit or confirmed date by source, split into local, long distance, office and labor-only | Booked jobs appear only as an estimate or a guess |
| Revenue and spend | Revenue per source from your system, ad spend, management fee and cost per booked move | Cost per lead presented alone |
| Map and reviews | Profile calls, direction requests, new reviews and the wording customers used | Review counts with no comment on trends |
| Work done and next steps | Pages published, changes to ads and three clear actions for next month | A list of activity with no decisions attached |
